United States Congresswoman Elect Nicole Malliotakis confirmed her attendance at a local protest against animal abuse, hosted by community activist Liam McCabe and other Concerned Residents of Bergen Place in Bay Ridge Brooklyn where an illegal puppy mill is being operated in a decrepit foreclosed property.
As was reported recently Joe Mauruci for WPIX NEWS, a foreclosed Bergen Place property in Bay Ridge Brooklyn was being used as a puppy mill by squatters. According to the report and witness accounts the premises has no heat and the animals are often wailing through the night while they are kept in deplorable conditions. Local resident Liam McCabe spoke to the neighbors on the block and decided to hold a protest calling on the City to rescue these animals and hold the perpetrators accountable.
McCabe said: “My wife and I are loving dog owners and when she alerted me to this situation we reached out to the residents on Bergen Place as well as other local animal rescue groups to see what could be done. Unfortunately the only answers we have heard back are “we are working on it.” Well that is not acceptable and that is why we decided to protest this horrible situation.” He added, ” I am delighted to hear that Nicole Malliotakis has joined in the fight. An advocate for animals herself she will surely get the attention of the mayor and the agencies that fix this situation.
