My Dear Ladies and my Dear Sirs!

Your humble servant, Michael Novakhov, submits this thought to you, respectfully:

The International Committee is needed to investigate the status, the activities, the moda operandi, the operations and their mechanisms, of the German Military Intelligence, the Abwehr, after the WW2.

They did not go into the non-existence and the oblivion quietly and readily, not at all. They transformed themselves into the very effective “peacetime” weapon. Hitler lost the War in 1945, Canaris won it (symbolically, and with the certain reservations, of course) fifty years later, in the mid- 1990-s, after the dissolution of the USSR and the reunification of Germany.

It is possible that they celebrated this “Victory” with the symbolic, performance like operations “Trump” and “9/11”.

McCarthy and McCarthyism (“muck cart“, they just love using the “telling”, symbolic names as the means of broadcasting and communications, for those who are supposed to understand) have very strong clues and indications that it might have been the elaborated, very well planned and designed, influence and propaganda operation by the post-WW2 Abwehr. Historically, McCarthyism coincides with the momentous events in the USSR: death of Stalin and de-Stalinization (Khrushchev’s secret speech of 1956). The operation “Muck Cart” – McCarthyism was used to dispose of the bunch of the former and present “Communist opponents”, who were carefully spied on, researched, and, finally “de-activated” and neutralized by Abwehr, in addition to the very clear geopolitical benefits for Germany.

Operation “Trump” is connected with McCarthyism by the direct, demonstrative, revealing, signature link: Roy Cohn.

No one person and no one country would be able to investigate these and other related and relevant hypotheses by themselves. The International Committee, with the broad investigative and the executive powers, might be the most suitable and viable solution.

This issues: “Abwehr” and its operations after the WW2 have to be addressed in fullest.

Admiral Canaris screams from his grave: “I am not a traitor! I did it for Germany!”

The culture  of the Intelligence Institutions, and such legends as Abwehr in particular, perpetuates itself relentlessly through generations. The Abwehr agents became the biological-genetic, ideological, cultural, secret military, live weapon, self-sustaining, autonomous, and procreating. The design of the Genius, in his field. The product of the complex, rich, contradictory, and the extraordinary mind of Admiral Canaris.

The Abwehr boys are proud. They leave their signature clues, deliberately. For those who will be able to understand. They want their credit due, as the “good German boys” and “good soldiers”.

The World is silent and confused. The World needs to understand. The World needs to investigate.

Michael Novakhov

Rosenmontag – Wikipedia

mikenova shared this story .

The Karneval season begins at 11 minutes past the eleventh hour on 11 November and the “street carnival” starts on the Thursday before Rosenmontag, which is known as Weiberfastnacht (“women’s carnival”, Fat Thursday). Karneval is prevalent in Roman Catholic areas and is a continuation of the old Roman traditions of slaves and servants being master for a day. Karneval derives from the Latin carnem levare (“taking leave of meat”) marking the beginning of Lent.[6]

Carnival is not a national holiday in Germany, but schools are closed on Rosenmontag and the following Tuesday in the strongholds and many other areas. Many schools as well as companies tend to give teachers, pupils and employees the Thursday before Rosenmontag off as well and have celebrations in school or in the working place on Weiberfastnacht, although every now and then there are efforts to cut these free holidays in some companies.

Celebrations usually include dressing up in fancy costumes, dancing, parades, heavy drinking and general public displays with floats. Every town in the Karneval areas boasts at least one parade with floats making fun of the themes of the day.[7] Usually sweets (Kamelle) are thrown into the crowds lining the streets among cries of Helau or Alaaf, whereby the cry Kölle Alaaf is only applied in the Cologne Carnival – Alaaf stems from or Alle afRipuarian for “all [others] away”. Sweets and tulips are thrown into the crowd.

The celebrations become quieter the next day, known as Veilchendienstag (“Violet Tuesday”, Shrove Tuesday), and end with Ash Wednesday.

North Rhine-Westphalia (German: Nordrhein-Westfalenpronounced [ˈnɔʁtʁaɪ̯n vɛstˈfaːlən] (About this sound listen), commonly shortened to NRW) is the most populous state of Germany, with a population of about 18 million, and the fourth-largest by area. Its capital is Düsseldorf; the largest city is Cologne. Four of Germany’s 10 largest cities (Cologne, Düsseldorf, Dortmund, and Essen) are located in this state, as well as the third-largest metropolitan area on the European continent, Rhine-Ruhr.

North Rhine-Westphalia was founded in 1946 as a merger of the provinces of North Rhine and Westphalia, both formerly parts of Prussia, and the Free State of Lippe. It makes up almost a quarter of the population and a quarter of the economy of Germany.[citation needed]

Putin to be surprise guest at Austria minister’s wedding

mikenova shared this story from BBC News – Home.

Russian President Vladimir Putin will be a surprise guest at Saturday’s wedding of Austrian Foreign Minister Karin Kneissl, Moscow has confirmed.

“Yes, he will drop by on the way to Berlin,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was quoted as saying by Russia’s Ria Novosti news agency.

He was referring to Mr Putin’s talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Ms Kneissl, 53, will marry businessman Wolfgang Meilinger at vineyard in Austria’s Styria state, reports say.

Meanwhile, Mr Putin’s adviser Yuri Ushakov told Russia’s Interfax news agency: “We will call in and congratulate them.”

He added that the Russian president had been invited to attend the wedding when he visited Austria earlier this year.

Ms Kneissl, an independent, was picked for the foreign minister job by Austria’s far-right Freedom Party – a coalition partner in the current government.

The Freedom Party is believed to have links to Russia’s governing United Russia party.

Putin to Attend Austrian Foreign Minister’s Wedding, Won’t Reveal His Gift

mikenova shared this story from Newsweek.

Russian President Vladimir Putin will take a detour on his way to Germany this month and attend the wedding of Austria’s top diplomat as a surprise guest, the Kremlin announced.

The event will be a rare social appearance by Putin in Western Europe since relations with Russia deteriorated over the annexation of Crimea in 2014 and the ensuing war in eastern Ukraine.

It will be Putin’s second visit to Austria this year, after meeting with Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz in June. The Kremlin said it was then that the prospect of Putin’s return first came up.

“It was precisely in Vienna when he received the invitation from the minister and accepted it with pleasure,” Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, according to news broadcaster RBC.

Austria’s Foreign Minister Karina Kneissl, 53, is marrying businessman Wolfgang Meilinger in Austria’s Styria state, according to German public broadcaster Deutsche Welle, citing Austrian news outlets. Kurz is also expected to attend, as well as the head of Austria’s anti-migrant FPO party, which has links with Putin’s United Russia and nominated Kneissl, an independent, for the foreign minister role.

Putin is scheduled to visit Germany on an official working trip to Chancellor Angela Merkel’s retreat outside Berlin on August 18, and his attendance at the wedding will not affect his official schedule, according to Peskov. The Austrian detour will not have the same status, and Russian news correspondents will not be welcome.

“This is a private function, so there is no protocol there,” Peskov said, according to state news agency RIA Novosti. The spokesman brushed off suggestions that such visits were rare and unusual, saying that he has attended such events abroad in the past but gave no details. Asked what gift Putin planned to bring to the newlyweds, Peskov was equally mysterious, admitting: “I cannot say that. We will announce it.”

The surprise visit by the Russian president this week has caused some speculation about the cost of the event, as Austria’s Kurier newspaper estimated that his visit earlier this summer required a detail of 1,500 law enforcement officials, costing around 423,000 euros ($480,830).

Putin once cultivated close ties with certain Western state leaders, most notably ex-Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and ex-German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder. Putin reportedly forced a rescheduling of a meeting with Merkel at a summit in 2014, after he visited a Serbian military march on the way and then went out with Berlusconi until the early hours of the morning.

While gradually shunned by many national leaders in 2014, Putin has benefited from the rise of nationalist and far-right leaders in Europe, such as Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, both of whom have come to question their ties with Western alliances such as the European Union and NATO.

“More…Weight” Giles Corey

M.N.: Mr. Mueller should put more weight on Mr. Trump; and We, The People, should put more weight on Mr. Mueller.

I have to say, my dear readers; and I really have to say it at this point, as I mentioned it in my previous post.

I started to doubt that Mr. Mueller’s Investigation will lead us anywhere and that it is capable of discovering and presenting to the American people the complete, unadulterated, “unbiased”, etc., etc. version of the TRUTH, which will be deep enough to satisfy and to survive the absolutely irreverent objective scientific analysis of the absolutely irreverent and skeptical minds. And I make this statement, at the same time, with the most sincere and deepest of respects for Mr. Mueller and his extraordinary skills as the lawyer and the prosecutor, and the sincere admiration for his aggressive and still gentlemanly prosecutor’s style. But the problem, in my humble opinion, might be, paradoxically but logically, exactly in the very clear and direct prosecutorial bend of this investigation. Mr. Muellers’ task and goal, as he sees them, is to prosecute: to obtain as much evidence by all means possible and to prosecute as much as possible, and also by all means possible, using all the traditional tactics and tools at his disposal in this “multi-prong” pursuit, and in the hope that our cherished TRUTH will be somehow born out of this process.

But it might not be, the truth might not appear by itself as the result of the due legal process, and, worse, it might become obscured by it if the issues are not addressed completely, in the most comprehensive fashion, and in the utmost humanly possible DEPTH.

My Dear Ladies, and my Dear Sirs:

The time is very short, the dust of forgetting, displacements, and the  disinformation started to settle on the facts; the issues are extraordinarily important. This is my respectful recommendation.

Establish, as soon as possible, hopefully within one week time, a Special Investigative Committee, out of the best and most experienced minds in the field, under the auspices of ODNI, and personally under Mr. Dan Coats directions, to investigate the following: Operation “Trump”, Operation “9/11”, and the previous history of attempts to interfere into the U.S. Elections, starting from 1900-s, and especially after 1991; and specifically to explore in depth the “German Hypothesis” described earlier in my posts. This hypothesis is consistent with both Mr. Trumps’ and some of the U.S. Senators’ concerns regarding the undue influence of the German politicians, mass media, and very likely, the German Intelligence Services in the U.S. political processes. This hypothesis is based strictly on the review of the open sources.

To put it frankly and bluntly, as I posted earlier, I am concerned that Mr. Mueller’s Investigation will be misdirected on purpose by the same people who misdirected the 9/11 Investigation, unknowingly to him. Specifically, I do think that it is the group closely connected with SPD. Please, see the details in my blogs, posts, and articles. I am afraid that it might turn out to be the situation where, symbolically speaking, the Bishop-Investigator reads from the Devil-Demiurge’s script.

Another point which I think is important: Since the operations “Trump and 9/11” appear to be closely related, like the two parts of the same script, and since the investigation of 9/11 cannot be considered as satisfactory or resolved, they should not be investigated by the same person. The same mistakes will be made again, and, I think, this is a part of the conspirators’ design.

The details and the agenda of this proposed Committee can be clarified later, but the idea of it, I think, should be entertained and discussed.

With all that, Mr. Mueller’s investigation can and should proceed unimpeded, and as aggressively as it can. My advice to Mr. Trump is to embrace Mr. Mueller’s’ Investigation wholeheartedly and to cooperate with it completely. Any new investigation will not absolve him of any implied, possible, or potential responsibilities, if there are any. However, the scope, the nature, the material, and the conclusions of this new non-prosecutorial investigation might supersede and subsume the results of the Mueller’s Investigation by putting them into the proper historical perspective. The significance of this “German Hypothesis” might be such that it might be more important than anything else.

And then, can we really blame and torture people as we do now (I mean the situation with Mr. Trump, his son, and the investigation) if they are completely unwitting actors in some historical reality show scripted by some evil mind or minds (whom I call The Demiurge)? That’s the dilemma, isn’t it?

This Committee should publish the non-classified summaries and updates on the subject, keeping the public accurately and adequately informed.

M.N.: The Russian and the Israeli, and also the Russian-Jewish Mafia connections and the roles in the Operations “Trump” and “9/11” are quite obvious. The German Connections are hidden deeply, and they are the puppet master who runs the show. This is the traditional masterful use of covers by the German Intelligence. Therefore their role should be investigated with the archaeological brush. The legal proofs might never be found but should be searched for persistently and in extra and the utmost depth. If you do not want to be fooled.

Hermeneutics – Wikipedia

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hermeneutics

Archaeology – Archaeology. In archaeologyhermeneutics means the interpretation and understanding of material through analysis of possible meanings and social uses. Proponents argue that interpretation of artifacts is unavoidably hermeneutic because we cannot know for certain the meaning behind them. | Hermeneutic circle · ‎Double hermeneutic · ‎Exegesis · ‎Biblical hermeneutics

M.N.: The same can be said about the “message aspects” of any crime in general, about the specific “performance crimes”, and especially about the political crimes and the intelligence operations: the “interpretation of artifacts [or what was left on a surface – M.N.] is unavoidably hermeneutic [interpretative – M.N.] because we cannot know for certain the meaning behind them”, and we can only hypothesize and to interpret these “artifacts” until we arrive on the firmer ground of facts and proofs.
4:11 AM 8/6/2018
In Political Criminology, Media Coverage and the Internet Research are the “text” of the Investigative Hermeneutics, just like the Bible is the text of the religious Hermeneutics, “artefacts” are the “text” of the archaeological Hermeneutics, etc.

12:58 PM 7/25/2018

M.N.: If the “German Hypothesis” (or more exactly, “The German-Russian-Israeli Hypothesis”, in order of “authorship rank and significance”), of the “Operations Trump and 9/11” (and those in-between, known and unknown) is properly investigated, and proves to be true, at least in part; it will have the most profound implications and impacts on practically “everything”.

M.N.: The “Foreign Lobbying” is relatively peanuts, and there is nothing new there. Mr. Mueller, please answer the main question:

Who is the author of operations “Trump” and “9/11”?

And they strongly appear to be related.

How were they designed and conducted?

Who are the major players besides those that we already know?

What was the role of Mr. Trump and his circle in this affair?

Was there the “collusion”, in what way and instances?

If it was a collusion, what were the modes of interactions and the communications between the parties?

Etc., Etc.

And I think you know about the “German Hypothesis“.

(See “German Hypothesis of operations Trump and 9/11 by Michael Novakhov” – Google Search)

What is your reaction to it?

Don’t you think that Weiner-Abedin’s emails case and Weiner’s “sexting case should be re-investigated?

Don’t you think that 9/11 should be re-investigated?

MWC NewsJan 16, 2014
Zammar was monitored by German intelligence long before 9/11 ….. He emphasized that he knows both Ernst Uhrlau, the then President of the BND and Dr. …

“The present case provides a glimpse into the systematic deception of the tax-paying public carried by German intelligence agencies…”

“Dr. Hansjörg Geiger, who at the time served as the Chief of the Ministry of Justice, told the Commission of Inquiry that Kay Nehm informed him on October 25, 2001 of the impending departure of Zammar from Germany scheduled two days later.  In parallel, the coordinator of the German BND (Federal intelligence service),, Ernst Uhrlau, informed the Office of the Chancellor on October 22 or 23 about Zammar’s plans to leave Germany.
A discussion about Zammar’s impending departure from Germany took place on October 26, 2001 at the Office of the Chancellor.  Such high level interest in the movements of Zammar and the reluctance to arrest him, suggests that

he was as a key government asset.”

“German officials claim that they could not have envisaged at the time that, should Zammar leave Germany, he might be abducted by U.S. officials and “rendered” to a third country.  Yet, according to a report by the Special Expert of the European Council on U.S. renditions, Dick Marty, U.S. allies were informed at a secret meeting held at the fringe of the NATO Council, as early as on October 2, 2001, about the U.S. rendition practice.  The European chief of the CIA, Tyler Drumheller, corroborated in an interview with the German weekly STERN of March 11, 2008, that European governments and intelligence services were aware of the renditions’ practice already in the fall of 2001.  He emphasized that he knows both Ernst Uhrlau, the then President of the BND and Dr. Steinmeier, personally, whom he said he met in the Chancellor’s Office in the fall of 2001. According to him the Germans expressed their displeasure at the time about unilateral U.S. “renditions” of terrorists from European soil, carried out without the permission of the respective governments. The CIA had then, according to Drumheller, “promised to involve our allies in the operations.”

German officials, including Uhrlau and Steinmeier, emphatically rejected Drumheller’s allegations.

Uhrlau said he “does not remember” having met Drumheller in the fall of 2001 but remembers having met him in Russia during a conference in 2002.

However, he denied to have discussed renditions with him. Dr. Steinmeier, for his part, denied to have ever known, let alone met, Mr. Drumheller.  Due to the status of Tyler Drumheller, as the chief of CIA in Europe, it is difficult to take these denials at face value.”

“The Commission of Inquiry of the Bundestag concluded in their final report that, in spite of questioning hundreds of witnesses, including high officials, it could not determine when and where Zammar was arrested and when and how he was transferred to Syria.  Were German officials unable to obtain this information from Morocco and the U.S. or did they suppress their knowledge while testifying before a parliamentary commission?

Yet, three months earlier, in March 2002, a delegation of the BND visited Syria and was given a five-page “study” on Zammar. The “study” was not released to the Commission of Inquiry because its release would – so the German government – endanger Germany’s the state’s welfare (Staatswohl).

One may be justified in asking what prompted the BND to travel to Syria in March 2002, and what prompted the Syrian government to hand such a “study” to the BND.

According to a BKA memorandum of June 20, 2002, cited in the Commission’s report, the Zammar “study” contains “detailed information to his personal surroundings, in relation to his presence in Hamburg and his contacts there.

The study also designates Zammar as a recruiter of the 9/11 perpetrators and their supporters who lived in Hamburg.”  No further details of the “study” are included in the Commission’s report.

German officials, interviewed by the Commission, purported not to know who compiled the Zammar” study” and on which basis it was compiled.”

“According to media reports that appeared in 2002, possibly based on the Zammar “study”, Zammar claimed to have recruited Mohamed Atta and other members of the “Hamburg group” as volunteers for training in Osama bin Laden’s camps in Afghanistan.  On that ground alone, Germany’s judicial authorities should have possessed a vital interest in having him testify before a German court. Their aversion to such a deposition indicates that, on the contrary,

their vital interest (and that of the German leadership) resided in keeping Zammar beyond the reach of German courts and media.”

“14. Why do German authorities want Zammar outside the reach of German courts?

As shown above, every move by the German authorities in relation to Zammar demonstrates the existence of a policy, adopted at the highest echelons of German politics, to remove Zammar from the reach of German courts and media. The interest shown by the highest echelons of German politics to the case of Zammar indicates that he was certainly not a “marginal figure” from their perspective.”

“The failure of the German authorities to act on Zammar’s alleged menace, both before and after 9/11, strongly suggests that Zammar played a radically different role from that attributed to him by government officials.”

“The present case provides a glimpse into the systematic deception of the tax-paying public carried by German intelligence agencies, the absence of effective parliamentary control of these agencies, the lack of independence of German judicial authorities, and the deplorable deference of German leaders to Washington’s imperial strategy”

Christopher Wray and Jeff Sessions must clean up FBI corruption or quit

mikenova shared this story from Boston Herald – Boston Herald.

FBI Director Christopher Wray and Attorney General Jeff Sessions are sitting squarely in the crosshairs of history.

They must rise to the call of duty and clean up the corruption we are seeing unfold at the FBI or they must tender their resignations and be replaced by real leaders who will do what is necessary to restore public trust in our unraveling justice system.

A powerful government agency that — like the IRS under former President Barack Obama’s watch — was unmistakably weaponized to target political opponents.

The recent shocking revelations that underhanded FBI officials misled the FISA court to get a warrant to spy on Carter Page, an unpaid, low-level volunteer, as a bridge to spy on the Trump campaign and transition team is beyond alarming; it’s flat-out corrupt — police-state tactics seen, ironically, in places like Russia.

You know, that nation Democrats belatedly came to see as the evil empire ever since Donald Trump became president.

Yesterday Trump tweeted, “Congratulations to Judicial Watch and Tom Fitton on being successful in getting the Carter Page FISA documents. As usual they are ridiculously heavily redacted but confirm with little doubt that the Department of ‘Justice’ and FBI misled the courts. Witch Hunt Rigged, A Scam!”

Here are the facts. The feds had Carter Page and his contacts with Russians on their radar for years prior to the 2016 election. If there was any criminal wrongdoing on his part, why isn’t he in custody by now?

Because he didn’t commit any crimes. Page was simply a ruse used by the unscrupulous “Deep State” to derail the current administration at any cost.

Voters know that Americans are allowed to communicate with Russians, do business with Russians and visit Russia. Scores of Americans have done just that, including the Clintons, who raked in millions from Kremlin-backed entities. Again, if hapless Carter Page has broken any laws why is he a free man?

It’s become increasingly evident former FBI Director James Comey worked with the DNC, the Clinton cabal, former CIA Director John Brennan and other Trump-hating officials to attack Trump. They abused their power and should be subject to a special counsel investigation — not the other way around.

It’s time for Wray and Sessions to act, or they’ll be remembered as those who contributed to the unraveling of our justice system by standing on the sidelines.

FISA documents reveal FBI collusion

mikenova shared this story from Boston Herald – Boston Herald.

Our media’s valiant efforts to distract us notwithstanding, information continues to seep out that underscores how badly a housecleaning is needed in Washington, D.C.

Last week saw the release of the applications used to obtain warrants from the FISA court to spy on Carter Page, an adviser to the Trump presidential campaign. Obtained by Judicial Watch, the 400-plus pages of (heavily redacted) documents support the conclusions earlier drawn by the House Intelligence Committee (and denounced by Democrats as hysteria): the FISA warrants were obtained through obfuscation and deceit.

As various commentators predicted would be proven, the bulk of the information that formed the basis for the FISA warrant applications was the “dossier” of allegations about Donald Trump’s activities in Russia. This dossier was provided to the FBI by British spy Christopher Steele. Steele was hired during the 2016 presidential campaign by opposition research firm Fusion GPS, who was paid by Hillary Clinton’s law firm Perkins Coie, who was paid by the Clinton campaign and the DNC. The allegations were scandalous and completely unverified, in violation of federal statutes and FISA court rules.

In other words, the FBI used oppo research paid for by the Democrats as justification for government spying on a political opponent and other Americans.

But there’s more. In another incredible coincidence, Fusion GPS had hired scholar and professor Nellie Ohr as a “paid Russian expert.” Nellie Ohr happens to be married to Bruce Ohr, deputy attorney general in the Justice Department. Bruce Ohr is alleged to have passed his wife’s anti-Trump research to the FBI. He was demoted for failing to disclose not only his wife’s employment with Fusion GPS, but also his own meetings with Fusion GPS founder Glenn Simpson.

The FISA court was never told any of that. They were never supposed to know. None of us was ever supposed to know.

When thousands of DNC emails were leaked to the public through Julian Assange’s organization WikiLeaks, we learned that Hillary Clinton had abused the primary process, nearly bankrupted the DNC and effectively stole the nomination from Bernie Sanders. We also learned the press played favorites with Clinton, getting her approval before running stories and forwarding debate questions to Clinton in advance. (The official line is Russians hacked the DNC computers and gave the emails to WikiLeaks. Assange and former U.S. and U.K. intelligence officials vehemently deny this, and maintain it was an inside “leak,” not a hack. The DNC refused to turn over their servers to the FBI for inspection.)

And then there is Hillary Clinton’s misuse of a personal email server to handle classified State Department information. We now know that then-FBI director James Comey decided not to prosecute Clinton before the investigation was even concluded. We also know that FBI attorney Peter Strzok rewrote Comey’s initial report to change Comey’s description of Clinton’s conduct from “grossly negligent” — which was a violation of the applicable federal statute — to “extremely careless.”

This is the same Peter Strzok who expressed his loathing for Donald Trump in many of the tens of thousands of texts he exchanged with his lover and fellow FBI attorney Lisa Page. Strzok infamously assured Page that they had an “insurance policy” and that they “would stop” Trump from becoming president. At a congressional hearing two weeks ago, Strzok arrogantly insisted that his bias did not affect his job performance.

He must think we’re all idiots.

But then, we were never supposed to know any of this.

Hillary Clinton was supposed to win. No one would know the FBI “investigation” into her violations of federal statutes was a foregone conclusion that would exonerate her. No one would know that members of the FBI and the DOJ were using their government powers to attack and discredit the man who wasn’t “supposed” to win, but did.

Trump’s unorthodox presidency has been a great gift. It has exposed the corruption in our government, and the betrayal of the American public by so much of the press.

Valpo man charged with child porn after turning himself in when phone locks up with “FBI” warning | Crime and Courts

mikenova shared this story from www.nwitimes.com – RSS Results in news/local/crime-and-courts of type article.

VALPARAISO — A 22-year-old Valparaiso man is charged with possessing child pornography after turning himself in. His phone locked up with a warning purporting to be from the FBI after he attempted to download a pornographic video, police said.

Joseph Hanvey, of the 2000 block of Calumet Avenue, told police that as he attempted to download the pornographic video involving a child or children at 2 a.m. Wednesday, a message came on his phone stating the video and phone were monitored by the FBI, police said.

Hanvey said his phone then shut down and he was unable to turn it back on. He said he drove around the city for the next two hours looking for a police officer to talk to before showing up at the station.

He admitted to viewing several images of child pornography and saved several to his phone, police said.

Police said they recognized the “FBI” disclaimer as a common computer virus rather than an official notice from the FBI. The virus typically causes an electronic device to lock up until the user makes some sort of payment via a gift or credit card, police said.

Police said they recovered several images of child pornography from Hanvey’s phone.

Hanvey is charged with a single felony charge of possessing child pornography.

Pentagon Security Gate Misfires, Injuring German

Accident German defense minister Pentagon – GS

mikenova shared this story .

He said Mr. Scharping ”was alert and in high spirits and was not in a great deal of pain.”

It was the second time in two years that the Pentagon’s security system had injured a visiting defense minister. In September 1998, Japan’s defense minister, Fukushiro Nukaga, and five others were injured in a strikingly similar accident at the same barricade.

That accident, attributed to a faulty sensor, prompted the Pentagon to install a new system for controlling the barricades, which were installed in 1992 to prevent terrorists from driving too close to the building.

Mr. Bacon noted that thousands of cars had passed through the barricades. ”We had no problems with the system until today,” he said.

When Mr. Cohen arrived at the gate, Mr. Scharping was lying on the ground outside the car, which remained hoisted on the barricade.

Mr. Bacon said an investigation had begun, adding, ”We’re always looking for the right balance between security and access, and unfortunately, the system here failed to provide access when it was required to do so.”

M.N.: This unfortunate accident might have contributed to the ill feelings on the part of the Schroeder’s team, Scharping, and their associates, including Uhrlau. My suspicion is that this accident might have been arranged by the GRU, as incredible as it sounds: as the revenge for the Russian humiliation in Balkan wars of 1990-s, and as the very convenient and effective personal wedge to drive between the Germans and the US. I think that this accident and its aftermaths may need the further investigation, which could provide the additional information on the subject of the investigations proper: the 9/11, and the Russian, German, and the others roles in it.

Mueller’s investigation: how long will it go on?

mikenova shared this story .

The indictment could be the high point for his team. Or it could be simply the crest of one of several coming waves.

An investigative interview of President Donald Trump, likely regarding Mueller’s probe into whether the President obstructed justice, still hangs in the air. So do the legs of the investigation involving former campaign chairman Paul Manafort’s role on the campaign, and involving former national security adviser Michael Flynn’s cooperation with investigators.

There are already some signs that Mueller’s office is prepared for an ultimate wind-down. Prosecutors from the US Attorney’s Office in Washington and the Department of Justice’s national security division are working on cases brought by Mueller, signaling that they’ll see them through if the special counsel’s office disappears before the court actions conclude.

And federal prosecutors in Manhattan separate from Mueller are handling the investigation into the president’s former personal attorney, Michael Cohen, which may touch on payments to women with whom Trump allegedly had extramarital affairs during the campaign.

Even so, Mueller still appears to be shepherding several related investigations that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein laid out in a memo for Mueller last August. The memo appears to describe the scope of the investigation point by point. Almost a full page of the discussion of Mueller’s scope is still hidden from public view.

Yet some parts of the still-secret investigation have become evident.

The President

Chiefly, there’s no conclusive public finding yet into whether Trump intended to obstruct justice or knew of illegal coordination — if there was any — between his campaign and the Russian government.

A conclusion may not come before the end of the year, given the timing of the midterm elections.

Under Justice Department custom, prosecutors generally avoid overt investigative steps and returning indictments against a candidate for office within 60 days of an election. That rule is not set forth in any official policy or regulation, however. Mueller could always ask Rosenstein for an exception. Or he could look at the example of former FBI Director James Comey, who was roundly criticized for making a statement on the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails 11 days before the 2016 presidential election.

One investigative step that appears to be in Mueller’s plan is interviewing the President.

The possibility of an investigatory interview with Trump has haunted the Oval Office for half a year now, as the President’s then-attorneys John Dowd and Ty Cobb, and later Rudy Giuliani and others, have gone back and forth with Mueller.

If the two sides cannot reach an agreement, a grand jury subpoena to force Trump to talk could be in the works. That would likely lead to a fight over presidential power under the Constitution — and may end up at the Supreme Court.

Perhaps Mueller doesn’t need Trump on the record. He already has dozens of witness interviews, plus hundreds of Trump’s own tweets, public speeches and on-camera interviews.

If Mueller chose not to indict the President, he will likely present his findings in a report to Congress. That could include a recommendation to impeach Trump.

Flynn still helping

Former national security adviser Michael Flynn cut a plea deal with investigators last December. There has been no apparent conclusion to that part of the investigation, and the amount of information Flynn has given them hasn’t yet become public.

Flynn has spoken with prosecutors about his conversations during the presidential transition. Those conversations relayed details from the Russian ambassador to senior Trump campaign officials including Jared Kushner, according to his charging documents.

At a court appearance last week, a federal judge made clear Flynn hasn’t been sentenced yet for lying to investigators because he continues to cooperate with prosecutors. That signals that more criminal cases related to what Flynn knows could be coming.

Manafort fears more

Former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort has been charged on crimes related to his Ukrainian lobbying and financial disclosures. Manafort says he is not guilty and is awaiting two trials, with the first set to start July 25.

Rick Gates, Manafort’s longtime deputy and another top Trump campaign and inauguration official, hasn’t appeared in public since he pleaded guilty in February to lesser charges than he first faced. Gates is now helping Mueller’s office, likely with the prosecution’s cases against Manafort.

He could also be contributing to other parts of the investigation. Mueller’s team initially sought Gates’ help to accomplish its central mission of investigating the campaign and Russian collusion, CNN reported in March.

Prosecutors haven’t yet said publicly what they’ll do with Manafort’s Russian connections during the campaign. His attorneys have said in court they believe Mueller continues to investigate him.

Russian threads

Then there are the Russians. The hack of the Democratic Party and Clinton campaign during 2016 fell into Mueller’s purview from the start. Those charges surfaced July 13, when Mueller’s team indicted 12 Russian military intelligence agents for their alleged conspiracy. But several unnamed people in the indictment — including a congressional candidate who allegedly asked the Russians for stolen emails, plus entities that appear to be WikiLeaks and Trump adviser Roger Stone, who communicated with the hackers — haven’t been charged.

Mueller’s team also said in a court filing late Monday night that even before Mueller started work last May, federal officials were looking into another group of Russians. Those Russians, a team of Russians and Russian companies that distributed anti-Hillary Clinton propaganda over social media, have since been charged.

What else?

That leaves several possible threads that Mueller’s office has pulled on and have yet to resolve. What will become of the case about Stone, who’s had several of his associates testify before Mueller’s grand jury? CNN reported that Mueller’s team has been in a court tangle with the attorneys of a former employee of Stone’s. Their hour-and-a-half-long sealed hearing on July 18 suggests the grand jury investigation of Stone presses on.

Is there more to George Papadopoulos’ dealings with the campaign that Mueller will pursue? The public will likely learn more in September about Papadopoulos’ cooperation with the special counsel’s office, in advance of and when he is sentenced. Papadopoulos pleaded guilty to lying to investigators about his contacts with Trump campaign officials and suspected Russian agents. While he worked on the Trump campaign and before the hackers leaked their stolen materials, Papadopoulos reportedly learned the Russians could offer “political dirt” on Hillary Clinton. That hasn’t yet tied back to Mueller’s case against the hackers who distributed that “dirt.”

Finally, what did Mueller find about that June 2016 Trump Tower meeting between the top campaign officials and Russians?

A definitive end?

In the court papers Monday related to the Russian troll farm, Mueller’s team wrote about how their investigation will reach a definitive end.

When it does, Mueller will have to provide Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein a confidential report explaining his decisions to prosecute or not to prosecute. Rosenstein gets to sign off on every potential criminal case and would have to tell Congress if the Justice Department decides not to pursue a case the Mueller’s office recommends.

Mueller’s team acknowledges that their work could always be cut short — if Rosenstein makes it so. Mueller could be fired for misconduct or “good cause,” such as violating Department of Justice policies, or Rosenstein could choose to end the investigation.

There’s one more way for Mueller’s investigation to naturally end: If Rosenstein wants, he could let it expire with the end of the federal government’s fiscal year, which is September 30, according to the court filing.

“Special counsels appointed under the regulation can be expected to have a limited time horizon and the investigation a definite endpoint,” the prosecutors wrote. “The lifespan and scope of the investigation at all times stay within the [acting] Attorney General’s control.”

CNN’s Laura Jarrett and Gloria Borger contributed to this report.
